Store phone numbers, addresses, etc. for your customers to help with marketing mailouts. Track every book purchased by your store from a customer as well as every item purchased by the customer. Basil notifies the user when a customer has purchased an item before so they don't have more than one copy in their personal library. Customer service is one aspect where an independent bookseller can excel and Basil provides the data and capabilities to facilitate that excellence.
Create book requests for items not currently in your store. Create the request by ISBN, title or author and when a book is added to inventory that matches the requests, a message will show who has requested that book and their contact information. Print that message and put the book aside to call your customer to let them know their book has arrived.
Sell books to customers to be ordered at a later date. Simply click on the special order button during point of sale and that book is added to the customers special order list. Manage all of your special orders to know what needs to be order, what has been ordered, and what is available to be picked up by the customer.
Configure discounts per customer depending on your stores policy. Enroll your customer in a frequent buyer program that is tracked within Basil. Set a discount on a customer so each time they visit the store they receive their discount. Many teachers are offered this kind of discount by many of our customers. Frequent buyer purchases are maintained within Basil so that this discount is applied automatically when making a purchase.
Basil allows users to configure their own discount and sales rules to make point of sale more flexible and robust. Define discounts for specific books for your book club members or discounts for teachers on certain books or certain categories of books.
